KAL anyone?

One of my knitting goals for this year was to knit something for a charity. I knew I wouldn't be able to knit oodles and oodles of hats, but this I might be able to do. A toddler sized sweater in thick yarn. ;-) If you're interested in following along, here's the blog address. Jean knits a ton of sweaters/mittens for charity, and knits them rather quickly! This particular pattern is her own, and I can't wait to start it.

Delays

The time for my husband to return is drawing near. I should expect delays, right? AirTran, the commercial airline who contracts for the Army, went bankrupt last week. It wasn't supposed to affect our guys coming home. Surprise, surprise, it has. The advance party was due home this week. Now they won't be home until next week. Dh says my birthday may come and go, and he won't be home. The delays are expected to be 48 hours to 9 days. Yee-haw. Mike did tell me that he'll bring me to any yarn store I want to go to in either Atlanta, SC or NC and he'll buy me whatever luxurious yarn I want, as much as I want. I think I'll keep him.

ETA: Apparently it wasn't AirTrain, it's ATA. I don't care enough to research it more. A delay is a delay, no matter which airline it happens to be.

Finished At Last

I have finally finished the Striped Noro Socks. I do love them, but geez louise, I am glad I'm done. I worked on them while at the YH event in Atlanta last weekend. I nearly threw in the towel while I was there. Knots. Lots of 'em. I guess I should call them tangles, 'cause they weren't really knots. The yarn is so sticky, it gets stuck on itself. Every time I would pull some from the cake, a whole tangled mess would come out. They were fun to knit though. I have enough to do another pair, but I'm in no rush. ;-) Here's what I'm working on now.....

The pattern doesn't show up nearly as much as I was hoping it would, and the yarn is doing some sort of weird spiral striping, but I do love them. More details another time. ;-)

The other day, Liberty woke up from her nap and said, "Would you like to make oatmeal cookies with me?" Oatmeal cookies (aka No-Bake Cookies) are her absolute favorite. She even eats them for breakfast. They are oatmeal you know. ;-) I had to snap this picuture of her.

Let's Party!

I cannot WAIT to go to Atlanta tomorrow. Why you might ask? I.need.to.get.out.of.here. I am feeling as though I have no adult interaction lately, even though it's totally not true. I went with my friend Kris and several other ladies to dinner last night. It was fabulous. I even scored a free meal thanks to crunchy noodles! Tonight, I went to a surprise birthday party for one of our neighborhood guys. So, there is plenty of interaction going on. Maybe it's because we're nearing the end of the deployment and I'm nearly going stir crazy? None-the-less, I'm going to see the YARN HARLOT again! Becca and I are leaving here as soon as I can get the kids dropped off at church and drive to her house. We've got our day all planned out. I.cannot.wait.
