Sooooo, did you know that I sew?
OK, I guess I should say I USED to sew. ;-) I actually used to sew a lot for my girls....when I only had 2. Something happened when I had a third girl, I'm not sure what it was. Mike would say it was my discovery of knitting that ended my sewing career, but I don't think that's true. I would say it was probably a high needs baby and a way too small house, but I digress. Anyway, Wednesday, I got the bright idea to make Easter dresses for my girls. I suppose I shouldn't really call them Easter dresses, as there is nothing eastery about them, but they did wear them for the first time on Easter Sunday. I had bought the fabric for Liberty's dress a couple of months ago. I even cut it out. Then I let it sit on the counter and collect dust for several weeks. I dug the sewing machine out Thursday afternoon during Liberty's nap-time and whipped up her jumper. She was so excited when she woke up. She said, "Oh, you made me a dress! Thank you so much Mommy! I can't make dresses because I don't know how to knit." I explained to her that I didn't knit her dress, I sewed it. She replied, "You sewed it? What's that?" I attempted to explain the sewing process to her, which included showing her the sewing machine. She asked all kinds of questions, including, "Is it hot?" Silly girl. I nearly busted a gut laughing, but I felt bad at the same time. Poor girl. She's 4, and didn't even know it was possible to sew a dress!!!!! Since I didn't have any fabric for Katie's dress, and I needed a pattern, we ran to Hobby Lobby Thursday morning. Imagine my surprise when she chose the same fabric as Liberty's dress. I was even more surprised over the fact that they still had it in stock after all this time! Sadly, there wasn't enough fabric for me to make a dress for Mikayla. I didn't want to buy fabric for her dress anyway until I finished Katie's dress. I didn't know if I would have the movitation or time to finish three dresses before Sunday, plus do all of the Easter festivities with the kids. Thursday night, I stayed up until the wee hours of the night sewing Katie's dress. You're supposed to finish sewing dresses all in one sitting you know. Friday, we went back to Hobby Lobby to purchase fabric and a pattern for Mikayla's dress. Guess what? They had an entire bolt of the fabric we were looking for, so we ended up with THREE matching dresses! They were all simple dresses, but they did come out nicely. I am actually itching to sew for Liberty a little more, but I have other things on my plate right now.

Very nice dresses. I too have the mindset that any sewing should be finished in one setting. (That is why I am not good at quilting!)
Great job.

You are so very talented! I love the dresses. How special for your girls.
They came out great! I can't believe how fast you cranked them out. Why am I not surprised that Liberty has no shoes on and is making a face?
Great job! They are gorgeous!!
The dresses are adorable! So cool that you were able to get them to coordinate with the matching fabrics and such. I like the way that they're all different, yet "go" together. I used to sew too...
